We enjoyed our May speaker, Sally Helppie!

Check back for future updates on events!!

Sally Helppie is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law who focuses her practice on Entertainment Law and commercial litigation. She practices with Tipton Jones, a boutique entertainment and litigation firm in Dallas. Sally’s entertainment law practice runs the gamut from representing high-budget Hollywood productions to small independent producers, as well as individual writers, actors and financiers. Representative legal work includes The Tourist, The Young Victoria, Edge of Darkness, and London Boulevard. She also regularly counsels Texas production companies regarding cast, crew, equipment, location and union contracts.

In addition, Sally is an award-winning movie producer and President of Advocate Pictures, LLC. She produced the 2008 action thriller, “Exit Speed,” which enjoyed a U.S. theatrical run and wide release abroad; it screened on the Showtime Channel and currently is available on DVD. She also produced “The Beacon,” a supernatural chiller starring Teri Polo, Ken Howard and Michael Ironside, that won the top award for Best Feature Film at the 2009 Paranoia Film Festival and for which she was named Best Producer at the 2009 La Femme Film Festival. It currently is in release abroad and will be available in the U.S. in 2010.

Based on her experience, Sally was selected as a member of the Producers’ Network for the 2009 Cannes Film Market. She is a sought-after speaker who has presented at the Austin Film Festival, Dallas Screenwriters Association, Texas Entertainment Law Institute, Dallas International Film Festival, Dallas Bar Association and multiple law-related conferences. Among her current projects, she just wrapped principal photography for “Beyond the Farthest Star,” a family-friendly movie shot in Texas, and is executive producing “Verdigris,” a feature film scheduled to shoot in New Orleans in 2010.
